Defending champion Robert Allenby was well-placed for another weekend assault, at five-under after 36 holes
Queenslander Adam Scott followed his opening round 72 with a 67
US Open champ Geoff Ogilvy birdied eight and parred the rest on the way to 71 and minus five
Victorian Stuart Appleby recovered from his double bogey here at 13 to shoot 71 and get to six-under

Queenslander Rod Pampling signed for a 67 to share second

Nick O'Hern began day three at nine-under
Rod Pampling had some frustrating moments en route to a 71 and 11-under overall
While overnight leader Peter Lonard grabbed three birdies on his front nine
Nathan Green remained level with Pampling after matching his 71
Paul Gow shot another 69 to get to minus 13

Peter O'Malley went round in 66 to be minus 15 and outright third
Lonard's putter ran cold late but he still carded a second successive 65 for 18-under
Matching the pace set by O'Hern, who had earlier equalled the course record with a 63
The challengers were on the move early on the final day, and David Smail was one of them, finishing with a 69, moving him to outright sixth
Paul Gow, fresh from qualifying for the 2007 US Tour signed, would finish fourth after a superb final round of 67
Wade Ormsby, who picked up five shots on his front nine, threatened briefly, but could only manage third
Peter O'Malley looked well-positioned going into the final round, but a 71 meant he finished fifth
There were really only two men in it, and Nick O'Hern had grabbed the ascendancy late on the front nine
Peter Lonard knew O'Hern was his only threat, and the two went head-to-head down the back nine
O'Hern should have sealed it on the 18th, but missed a short putt and the pair went to a playoff
It took a freakish bunker chip from O'Hern to decide the winner
O'Hern gets his first trophy in seven years, and is delighted
And has plenty to celebrate with his family.
